A Typical Friday
It’s Friday and on Fridays my awesome daughter Kate works at the shop, and I am supposed to be making chutney or marmalade or spending the day doing my favourite thing, recipe development!!
Last night I borrowed a metal detector and my friend and I set out to look for my secateurs. Of course we didn’t find them, it couldn’t be that easy! So now I have a better detector and will go looking today. I am so distracted though; I have 10 jobs on the go and none of it chutney or marmalade.
With G at the car show the garage is empty so I set about checking for the secateurs. I now have a pile of boxes and rubbish we have collected to get to the recycling.
I did put my old shark on marketplace for free and it’s gone already!! Not even 5 minutes and I have 5 people after it. Oh, and still no secateurs!!
I made myself toast with the last of the marmalade and a some salmon on toast with Billies Peppered Salt I talked about yesterday - I covered my toast with it and I was so caught up in my 10 jobs that I put it on my marmalade!!!
My next job is hand watering my Buxus hedge as I think this one in particular is missing the watering.
It’s great to spend the time looking at the garden. This year I resurrected my old arches that I had made 30 years ago. They had been stored up at Cust and G picked them up and painted them. I had seen pumpkins, cucumber and courgettes growing on them, so was quite excited.
I haven’t been hugely successful as my cucumbers kept giving up the ghost and my courgettes grew in the wrong direction. However, this year I have got some pumpkins and even the odd cucumber. The courgettes are doing ok but not on the arch!! I picked a couple of Lebanese cucumber yesterday - these make a great snack. I love to saute the courgettes with fresh tomato and Billies Seasoned Garlic Chilli. The Chilli gives a different flavour and it’s a great veggie mix alongside any other dish.
I better get back to my jobs and get something finished today, Happy Friday!
